Georgia Big Sticks again dominate the top of the boater side leaderboard
Day 1 is in the books and Georgia anglers are lurking
Day 1 is in the books at the T-H Marine BFL All American, and Georgia’s big sticks are well-represented, making up over half the of the Top 13 spots on the leaderboard.
Six Georgia boaters made the top 13, and young Tyler Morgan lead the way. Tyler, who has won four times and had 17 Top 10’s, finished Day 1 with a weight of 22-4–behind leader Nick Lebrun, who brought in an incredible sack of 26-9. Tyler qualified for the All American by finishing second last fall behind Kip Carter in the Wheeler Regional.

Other Georgia Big Sticks rounding out the Top 13 are:
6th–Flowery Branch’s Rob Jordan with 21-11 (very impressive for a guy who has the world’s best spotted bass lake in his backyard)
8th–Ellijay’s Heath Pack with 20-3
9th–Madison’s John Duvall with 19-7 (Duvall had a “giant” to round out his limit)
11th–Elberton’s Jeremy Strong with 19-0
13th–Mansfield’s Kip Carter with 17-13 (no Georgia angler has fished as many All Americans as Kip–and he is very much in the hunt for his first All American trophy)

The Georgia Big Stick co-anglers were also well represented–with five out of the Top 20 coming from Georgia. The best of the Bulldog anglers was Daniel Tuten of Byron, Ga, who brought 10-13 to the scales for 10th place.
The other Georgia co-anglers who hit the Top 20 after Day 1 were:
11th–Valdosta’s Andrew Nickeson with 10-8
15th–Eric Cerny, of Cumming, with 8-9 (two fish)
16th–Gainesville’s Harold Grizzle with 8-6 (three fish)
19th–Brooks’ Matthew O’Connell 8-1
Let’s hope the Georgia guys can keep it up on Day 2, where near triple digit temperatures are predicted for Shreveport and Cross Lake by Saturday. Stay tuned!
